WELCOME, VISITORS: We are glad you could be with us and we welcome you back any time. Please sign our guest register in the narthex/entry.

PRAYER: Lord, we thank You for bringing Your word into our hearts. Warm our hearts so that we are willing to share Your good news with a world that desperately needs that message. Amen.

HYMNS: 235, 363, 234, 520 v. 1 & 3

ORDER OF SERVICE: Service of the Word p 38ff

THE WORD

FIRST LESSON: Isaiah 35:4-7a

This reading depicts our spiritual needs in physical terms. Physical weakness and trouble mirror the absolute state of need in which we are born. All our troubles drive us to despair of our own strength and understanding and to be the more ready to receive from His Word ears that hear and eyes that see.

PSALM OF THE DAY: Psalm 146 on page 120

We have every reason to praise the Lord. He takes care of every need we could possibly have.

SECOND LESSON: Acts 3:1-10

GOSPEL: Mark 7:31-37

Jesus deals with even the momentary fear of the man most gently. That is always how He deals with us, one at a time, with perfect understanding and compassion.

THE SERMON: Mark 7:31-37

THE THEME: Praise the Lord! He does all things well.

OUR FATHER’S BUSINESS

Attendance at the Lord’s House—Aug. 2, 2018 54

SUNDAY SCHOOL & CONFIRMATION resumes this morning with installation of teachers and subs including Madi Peters and Nicole Schmidt (K), Megan Peters (1-3), Mark Hoffmann (4-6), Julie Gutknecht (7-8), subs—Jenni Weese, Monica Kowalke, Linda Hoffmann. (If you’d also like to help, talk to Julie.)

SUNDAY MORNING BIBLE CLASS resumes this morning. Coffee and treats will be available. Pastor Janisch will lead a discussion of Phillipians.

PARSONAGE MAINTENANCE: We will need a few work crews to help with a number of items as we ready the parsonage for its new tenants. Add your name to the list on the narthex table and where your talents lie—we initially would like a crew to help with work on the deck. Sign up or check with Loren Weese or Julie Gutknecht.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR: Mission Fest is scheduled for Sept. 30. Special Guest Speaker will be Rev. Jon Ladner. Following Sunday School and Adult Bible Study there will be grilled pork chops plus a potluck lunch (freewill offering).

CONSIDER A WALK IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF JESUS:

Pastor Janisch will lead a trip to the Holy Land, April 1-10, with the tour traveling to Nazareth, the Sea of Galilee, Jerusalem, Bethlehem and many other well-known sites of the Savior. See the insert and details on the west narthex bulletin board and table—call or ask Pastor Janisch.

LOOK FOR DRUMMER INSERT focusing on Sunday School, intro of and by Pastor Janisch and Mission Festival plans.
