Church Telephone…682-4573

Organists……………Mrs. Karen Davis

WELCOME, VISITORS: We are glad you could be with us and we welcome you back any time. Please sign our guest register in the narthex/entry.

PRAYER: O God, You reveal Your mighty power

chiefly in showing mercy and kindness. Grant us the

full measure of Your grace that we may obtain Your

promises and partake in Your heavenly glory. Amen.

HYMNS: VBS children, 349, 432, 505/234, 533 vs 1&5

ORDER OF SERVICE: the Common Service, p 15f

FIRST LESSON: Isaiah 55:1-5

The Messiah is commissioned to call the nations into the mercies promised to David. The invitation is one of pure grace. For we had nothing to offer God (“no money”) and our entire natural life could

not pay for a morsel that could satisfy the needs our soul.

PSALM OF THE DAY: Psalm 119c on page 111

God’s Word is a bright light to guide us every step of our lives.

SECOND LESSON: Romans 8:35-39

Normally, we would be powerless against persecution, famine, nakedness, danger or sword. But none of these things, in fact, nothing

in all creation can separate us from God’s love. God is on our side.

GOSPEL: Matthew 14:13-21

Our Lord seems almost oblivious to the looming problem of feeding a large crowd in such a remote place. After the disciples assess their meager resources, the Lord of creation gives thanks and produces more than enough to satisfy the crowd.

THE SERMON: Matthew 4:18-20

THEME: I Will Make You Fishers of Men
