PRAYER: Almighty God in mercy You sent Your one and only Son to take on Himself our human nature. By His gracious coming deliver us from the corruption of our sin and transform us into the likeness of His glory. Amen.

THE WORD

FIRST LESSON: Isaiah 45:20-25

God calls the world to seek salvation in Him. His words are truth, and His mighty works are righteousness and salvation. In spite of the world’s waywardness, the Lords, says, “Turn to me and be saved.”

PSALM OF THE DAY: Psalm 111 on page 106

The psalm focuses us on the heart of Christmas, and it invites us to ponder with delight what our Lord has done for us.

SECOND LESSON: Colossians 3:12-17

Paul calls us “God’s chosen people,” and urges us to do everything “in the name of the Lord Jesus.”

GOSPEL: Luke 2:25-40

When Joseph and Mary bring the Christchild to the temple for the rite of purification, Simeon praises God for keeping His promise of sending the Savior. Anna also gives thanks to God for sending the Savior. She speak about him to others looking for the coming Savior.

TREASURERS’ Treasurers will be closing the books for 2017 on Sunday, Dec 31st, today. So if you want to get a contribution in before the end of the year, please talk to them.

ANNUAL VOTERS’ MEETING is scheduled for Sunday, Jan 21st. Agenda includes elections and setting 2018 financial goals.
