ORDER OF SERVICE: Morning Praise p45ff

FIRST LESSON: Zechariah 9:9-10

Zechariah gives new hope and encouragement to the people of Judah, who were discouraged after their captivity. He tells them of their coming Savior-King, who would appear in lowliness and humility to set up His kingdom of peace to the very “ends of the earth.”

PSALM OF THE DAY: Psalm 24 on page 73

The Lord Almighty enters into Zion, and those whose sins have been washed away join together in celebration of His coming.

SECOND LESSON: Philippians 2:5-11

This lesson tells of the humiliation of Christ and His final glory. Christ Jesus lowered Himself and became a servant as He preformed His redemptive work. God exalted Him to the highest place and made Him our glorious King.

GOSPEL: Mark 11:1-10

Jesus enters Jerusalem riding on a donkey. He enters the city as a king, yet His glory is in His humility and suffering.
