Dear Savior, upon your gracious invitation I come to your altar. Let me find favor in your eyes that I may approach your table in true faith and receive the sacrament to the salvation of my soul. Amen.

CONFESSION OF SINS
M: Beloved in the Lord: let us draw near with a true heart and confess our sins to God our Father, asking him in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to grant us forgiveness.
C: Holy and merciful Father, I confess that I am by nature sinful and that I have disobeyed you in my thoughts, words,
and actions. I have done what is evil and failed to do what is
good. For this I deserve your punishment both now and in eternity. But I am truly sorry for my sins, and trusting in my Savior Jesus Christ, I pray: Lord, have mercy on me, a sinner.

FIRST LESSON Lamentations 3:22-33

SECOND LESSON 2 Corinthians 4:7-15

21 When Jesus had again crossed over in the boat to the other side, a large crowd gathered around him near the sea. 22 Then one of the synagogue rulers, named Jairus, came. When he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet 23 and repeatedly pleaded with him, “My little daughter is near death. Please come and place your hands on her so that she may be healed and live.” 24 Jesus went with him, and a large crowd was following him.
35 While he was still speaking, people from the synagogue ruler’s house arrived, saying, “Your daughter is dead. Why bother the Teacher anymore?” 36 But when Jesus heard this report, he told the synagogue ruler, “Don’t be afraid. Only believe.” 37 He did not allow anyone to follow him except Peter, James, and John the brother of James. 38 They went into the house of the synagogue ruler, and Jesus saw a commotion with people weeping and wailing loudly. 39 When he entered, he said to them, “Why are you making a commotion and weeping? The child is not dead but sleeping.” 40 They laughed at him. But after he put everyone out, he took the father of the child, her mother, and those who were with him and went in where the child was. 41 Grasping the hand of the child, he said to her, “Talitha, koum!” (When translated, that means, “Little girl, I say to you, arise!”) 42 Immediately the little girl stood up and began to walk around. PRAYERS OF THE CHURCH
O Lord, You did not turn aside the bold request of Jairus. We implore You, hear our prayers for those in need. Drive away our fears and give us believing faith. Give healing and strength to the sick and suffering. Give comfort to those who mourn in the knowledge that Christ has destroyed death and all who die in Him are only sleeping until You awaken them at the Last Day.
Heavenly Father, Your Son used His divine powers as a man on earth to heal and save. We thank You that He continues to use His divine powers as a man, bodily present in the Holy Sacrament, to deliver His healing and saving power to faith. Grant that we may worthily seek this medicine of immortality in the Lord’s Supper, believing His promises and receiving them now and in eternity.
O Lord, heavenly Father, we gratefully remember the sufferings and death of Your dear Son, Jesus Christ, for our salvation. Rejoicing in His victorious resurrection from the dead, we draw strength from His ascension before You, where He ever stands for us as our own High Priest. Gather us together from the ends of the earth to celebrate with all the faithful the marriage feast of the Lamb in His kingdom, which has no end. Graciously receive our prayers, deliver and preserve us, for to You alone we give all glory, honor and worship, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
C: Amen.

SAVE-THE-DATE—“Somethin’-on-a-Bun”: This year’s fund-raising event will be next Sunday, July 7 beginning with an outdoor service at 9:30 a.m. followed by broasted chicken lunch (potluck desserts to share), silent auction and bean bag toss competition. Please sign up in the narthex if you can help with any portion of the event. Also, please bring a nonperishable item(s) for the Buffalo Food Shelf. Our goal will be to fill up our buckets!
Silent Auction: Register your silent auction donations with Julie Gutknecht ASAP. Nonperishable auction items may be dropped off at church at any time (but at least by Wednesday, July 3). Perishable items should be registered in advance but may be delivered the morning of the event. (p.s. If you will not be able to attend on the 7th but would like to place a bid, see Julie G)

Silver labeled buckets are located in the coat racks in both the upper and lower narthex for this on-going service project with deliveries made monthly. Remember to help fill the buckets on the 7th!
