Lutheran Women’s Missionary Society

Lutheran Women’s Missionary Society (LWMS) is an organization for women of ALL ages. It provides an opportunity for women to be involved in missionary work of our church and synod. Immanuel is a member of the Hannah Circuit of LWMS which meets twice a year, featuring a speaker from the mission field. The Hannah Circuit is made up of Wisconsin Synod Lutheran Churches from the surrounding area.

Hannah Circuit of the LWMS meets the first Sunday after Easter (Spring Rally) and the second Sunday in October (Fall Rally) at a member congregation.

As a part of the Hannah Circuit, all confirmed women of Immanuel are members although all children and men of the congregation are encouraged to attend as guests at the LWMS rallies.

Free will plate offerings are taken at Immanuel prior to the spring and fall rallies for world and home mission projects. These projects are voted on at the circuit and national levels. National dues are currently $75 per church year so half of this amount is held in reserve from each of the plate offerings. These dues are used to cover the day-to-day expenses of the organization.  The remainder of the plate offerings are sent to the Hannah Circuit treasurer of which 25% is sent to National LWMS for that year’s national mission projects and 75% is kept for the circuit’s mission projects.

A woman from Immanuel is selected as reporter. The reporter is our contact through whom the local circuit and national offices communicate. The reporter is also responsible for handling the plate offerings and forwarding these offerings to the national and local circuit.
