THE WORD

FIRST LESSON: Isaiah 63:16b,17;64:1-8

Isaiah cries to the Lord to come to His wayward people and restore His place as their God and redeemer.

PSALM OF THE DAY: Psalm 24 on page 42(s)

The Lord Almighty enters into Zion, and those whose sins have been washed away join together in celebration of His coming.

SECOND LESSON: 1 Corinthians 1:3-9

Paul encourages us with the promise that God will keep us in His grace as we “wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed.” Jesus will “be revealed” on the Last Day, when He returns in glory.

GOSPEL: Mark 13:32-37

Jesus urges His followers to “be on guard” and to “be alert.” No one knows when the day of judgment will take place.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS Immanuel Congregational Christ-mas Party will be next Sunday, beginning at 11:45 AM pot-luck fol-lowed by games and Christmas Carols. Please bring a small gift under $5 for bingo game and cookies and treats for bags for shut-ins. Christmas Caroling/chili dump is scheduled for Dec 17th.

Test me in this,” says the LORD almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.” God through Malachi (Malachi 3:7,10)

MEDITATIONS for the new quarter are available in the narthex. The one-page devotions combine “Luther’s Catechism and personal devotions.” Reading one every day can only encourage our faith.

LWMS Befriend a Missionary Program information for our Hannah Circuit is on poster board in narthex. Our months are Feb and Aug.
